Golfers who want to hit the links whilst enjoying an all inclusive Jamaica vacation are in luck! Jamaica has some of the top championship golf courses in the Caribbean, laid out by such legendary course designers as Gary Player, Robert Trent Jones Sr., and Ralph Plummer. Montego Bay's Tryall Golf, Tennis and Beach Club was designed by Ralph Plummer, and it is considered to be one of the world's top courses. The 71-par, 6920 yard course has hosted the Johnnie Walker World Championship as well as the Jamaica Classic.
Montego Bay is also home to the Half Moon Golf, Tennis and Beach Club. The 72 par, 7119 yard course was laid out by Robert Trent Jones Sr., and is well-known for its beautiful but tricky design, its undulating greens, challenging drives, demanding holes, and its spectacular vistas. A number of championships have been held there, including the Jamaican Open and the Red Stripe Pro-Am. The Ritz-Carlton Golf and Spa Resort, located on the grounds of the Rose Hall Plantation, features the White Witch - Jamaica's newest golf course, named for Annie Palmer (the witch of Rose Hall). This 71 par, 6718 yard course was designed by Rick Baril and Robert von Hagge, and offers breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea.
Wyndham Rose Hall Golf and Beach Resort's Three Palms Ocean Course was named one of the world's top five golf courses, and it has been the site of the Jamaica Open and other all inclusive Jamaica vacations invitational tournaments. This par 72, 6598 yard course is famous for its challenging seaside and mountain layout, and its wicked eighth hole which doglegs onto a promontory jutting 200 yards out to sea. The fifteenth hole is beside a waterfall which was featured in one of the James Bond movies. Cinnamon Hill Ocean Course spans four hundred lush acres between the shimmering Caribbean Sea and the majestic Jamaican Mountains.
Negril Hills Golf Club is known as a very fast course, and is distinguished by its lush, tropical greenery, its elevated greens and tees, and its undulating fairways flanked by water hazards. This par 72, 6333 yard course was designed by Robert Simmons, and is known for its fifth hole, which doglegs 90° to the left. This a 427 yard par 4 hole which calls for accurate drives - far enough to see the green, but short of a marsh filled with chest-high reeds on the outside corner. Another great Jamaica vacation golf experience is offered by SuperClubs Runaway Bay 9-hole executive course (on the grounds) and its PGA-rated 18-hole course (located 25 minutes away). Transportation, green fees, and professional instruction are all included. Other great Jamaican courses include Montego Bay's SuperClubs Golf Club (formerly Ironshore, located 45 minutes from the Grand Lido Braco Resort & Spa), Sandals Golf and Country Club, Kingston's Caymanas, and the oldest course in Jamaica, Mandeville's Manchester Club.
A Jamaica vacation can be a golfer's dream come true. All inclusive Jamaica vacation resorts such as SuperClubs Runaway Bay and Ironshore provide free transportation, greens fees, and instruction. When it comes to golfing in paradise, think all inclusive Jamaica vacations for a dream come true.
