Festivals and Fairs of Minnesota

I have to admit that I love the atmosphere on different festivals and I would like you to have a look at the offerings in the Twin Cities metro area. In my search I have tried to look at Minneapolis, St Paul and Bloomington so that you have a wide spectrum of choices to look at. First on my list is the musical "Wicked". This is family entertainment at its best. The show will be held at the Orpheum Theatre on 910 Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis. The zip code is MN55403. This is a month long string of shows that started on the 11th of July and is going to run through up to the 19th of September 2010. This gives you plenty of time to book and select the most convenient time to visit.

On a slightly grander scale we have the Minnesota Fringe Festival. This is not going to take away the special place of Glastonbury but it does a good job of giving the local public a great piece of entertainment. This is in the same venue as the musical above but it runs for a short period from the 5th of August for ten days. There are eleven days in total for this show. You can see in excess of one hundred and fifty shows. All the family is welcome.

If you wish to have the quiet life then the Dakota County fair will give you just the right amount of entertainment. It is going to be held at number 4008, 220th Street West. You can write to them on P.O. Box 73 Farmington. The zip code is MN 55024. It is expected that the fair will run until the 15th August 2010. I normally make a beeline for the livestock because they are really good at it. Those that like rough sports will enjoy the demolition derby. A musical treat is coming in the form of the Battle of the Bands as well as other local entertainments.

There is a smaller fair at the Waconia Place. It is known as the Carver County Fair and it will run up to the 15th of August. You can write to them at P.O. Box 208 Waconia. The zip code is MN 55387. The boozers are in luck with the "Brew at the Zoo" event. There is a serious point in this because you will help in the local conservation efforts. The kids can also visit the zoo as you take a tipple. Musical treats are in store and the local breweries will receive a welcome boost. This is a one day affair on the 13th August 2010 at 13000 Zoo Boulevard Apple Valley, MN 55124. It starts at 7pm and runs for three hours.

There is a cultural festival in the guise of the "Irish Fair". It will be on up to the 15th of this month at the Harriet Island in St Paul. You can help to celebrate the rich culture of the Irish people and the diversity of their interests. Music and shopping are the order of the day. This is a free event so be sure to take a peek. You might just decide to stay a bit longer. All this is just a sample of the great things that you can find in the area.
