Exploring the Doi Tung Thailand Flower Gardens

If you are visiting the Mae Fa Luang District of Thailand, you should take some time to explore the beautiful peak of the Doi Tung mountain. As you travel up the mountain, you will take Highway Number 110 and Highway Number 1149. This scenic route features numerous scenic overlooks that provide you with gorgeous views of the countryside below. One of the most famous overlooks gives you views of the Phra That Doi Tun Holy Relic.

This route also takes you by the tribal villages of Akha, Muser, and Shan as you travel to the peak. The beautiful Mae Fa Luang Garden is a gorgeous botanical gardens that features native plants growing from rock outcroppings, and many of these plants have year-round blooms that add color to the landscape. This garden has gained international attention and has received the Pacific Asia Tourism Association's PATA Gold Award. One of the most famous point in the gardens is a famous bronze statue featuring a group of children that create a pyramid as they reach for the sky. The gardens are open to the public daily. The Mae Fa Luang Garden sits just below the Doi Tung royal villa, which is the former residence of the Late Princess mother Somdej Phra Srinagarindra.

When you reach the top of the Doi Tung mountain, you will arrive at the Wat Phra That Doi Tung temple. This temple has been an important pilgrimage destination for devout Buddhists, and its rich history can be traced as far back as 911 AD. From the top of Toi Tung, you can take in amazing views of the green countryside of both Thailand and Burma.
