Amsterdam Best Tourist Attractions

In Amsterdam there are many internationally renowned museums such as the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum and the Rembrandt House Museum, the van Gogh Museum, the Madame Tussaud Wax Museum or the Filmmuseum. Also, the Anne Frank House museum is a popular tourist destination as is the Museum Amstelkring in whose attic is secret Catholic church of the seventeenth century. Also in this city, is the famous brewer Heineken, which has its own museum.

The Hortus Botanicus, founded in the early 1660s, is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world, with many old and rare species, among which is the coffee plant from which came the cuttings that served as the basis for plantations in Central America and South America (the clone was a gift to Louis XIV of France and was taken to the French colony of Martinique in 1714, where it came to fruition).

The club Ajax Amsterdam is located and their stadium Amsterdam Arena in the city. Also the prestigious concert hall Concertgebouw is home to the equally famous symphony orchestra Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, which gave its first concert on November 3, 1888. There are numerous buildings, churches, plazas, bridges and others that are worth a visit.

A very interesting time to visit the city is the Queen's Day, or Koninginnedag, on April 30. That day all the inhabitants of the city take to the the street selling all sorts of things, mainly household items no longer used. The city becomes a flea market and a real party and the streets are jammed with people dressed up and disguised by the royal color, orange.
