Conquering the World?

You will get to see the world if you work hard enough for it. For many, they thrive on the familiar. They don't travel simply because they can't stand not knowing their surroundings. The sad part is, they don't know just how enriching traveling can be. You learn so much just by being around different cultures. Plus, starting from scratch can actually be the most rewarding experience you'll ever have, especially when you get to see yourself succeed in the long run. Instead of fearing the unknown, open yourself up to new possibilities. Things can be exciting for you, so long as you allow them to. You can go global and be a well-rounded person if you just follow these tips:

1. Say hello with a big smile. While going to a new place, especially when you know there's a language barrier, can be terrifying, it can also be exhilarating. Read up on where you're going, learn key phrases, and greet the locals with a hello in their language. This is your chance to make new friends, and while you may not understand each other easily, you will get to pick up on basic greetings and important phrases. Write these words down and for kicks, try to imprint them in memory. You could enjoy the place so much that you may even go back one day.

2. Take pride in diversity. Things work differently in some countries, and while these aren't things you understand, just accept it and respect them for their beliefs. You are not in your territory, and you need to be the flexible one here. If you are adamant about how things are, you will definitely not enjoy the place. So while you're there, take things in stride and take every moment as they come.

3. Represent your culture well. If you remain respectful and get into the experience, people are more likely to open up to you. You could even spark their curiosity and will want to visit your country. Whatever it is, it's always nice to meet people of different backgrounds. They help you see just how dynamic the world can be. Plus, the lessons you'll learn will be quite memorable. You take something with you when you get home, and as cheesy as it sounds, these lessons can change your life and make you view things better because now you know just how different people can be from each other.

4. Connect with a local. So establishing lasting relationships can be quite a challenge, rules change when it comes to friendships. Meet the people in the area and enjoy their company while you're there. Get each other's email address or connect through social networking sites. This is a great way to keep your new friends updated. And the next time you revisit the country, you'll already have your personal tour guide. The best part is, these people know the area and you won't even have to pay them a single cent when they take you around. And if you've become close enough, you could even stay with them and not have to pay for hotel accommodations.
